In addition to Westerns, we will also be looking at gangster movies in class.  The concept of a gangster is one I understand rather more than that of a cowboy, perhaps because they still exist, and consequently have a habit of sneaking into movies set in the 20th and 21st centuries that aren’t actually gangster films.  That said, I can’t say I’m familiar with gangster movies, so this is still going to be an educational experience for me.

Apologies for not having posted of late; I’ve been rather bogged-down with schoolwork.  I’ll let you know what I make of GoodFellas ASAP.

You have to watch all the Godfather films, Bobby. The last one was a bit iffy, too commercialised for me. But Marlon Brando was excellent.

All of them? I had already been warned that they weren’t very interesting, but my tastes aren’t dictated by those of my friends, so I’ll keep an eye out for them. Thanks!

Well at least the first two. The first one nearly did me in, but I was very young when I saw it. I don’t think I’d like it any better now, though, although it was a very well done film. Ayeeee! first Westerns, now ganstas!!! What’s to become of our Bobby? 😉

Am I going to lose my innocence to violent movies, you mean? I hope not! They do say movies have a desensitising effect…

Today a friend told me that I’m still naïve and innocent. I actually felt glad to hear that! I’d hate to become cynical.

If you reckon The Godfather was well done, then it’s got to be worth checking out. Hopefully it won’t “do me in”… 😉
