Home movies in films

8 05 2007

Home movie style sometimes gets used in actual commercial film releases.  Textbook example?  The Blair Witch Project, a horror film presented in the style of an amateur documentary.  Scary stuff.  It was a low-budget independantly produced film, but its innovative camera use guarenteed it box office success.

Of course, there have been other, less high profile uses of home video footage.  Off the top of my head, I can think of the opening titles for Men Behaving Badly, and the “Love & Monsters” episode of Doctor Who.
