This was the original statement where companies like Toshiba agreed on the DVD format. It also contains all the specifications. So that’s mildly interesting.


Digital Versatile Disc?

Well, it’s that time of year again…  Yep, it’s Random Trivia Time(TM)!

So, did you know that DVD does not, as is commonly assumed, stand for “Digital Versatile Disc”?

No.  Apparently, it actually stood for “Digital Video Disc.”  Of course, DVDs play more than videos, so some people came up with the name “Digital Versatile Disc.”  Officially, the product has always been known as simply “DVD.”

 So now you know.  Hasn’t that enriched your life?

As you may have guessed, I’m stuck here with my coursework left at home, so I have a little too much time on my hands.  Unusual for me, nowadays.
